Brookline High boys soccer sits alone atop the Bay State Conference power rankings at 3-0-2, the only unbeaten team left in the league.

The Warriors extended their grip on the No. 1 spot in MassLive's latest BSC rankings, published Wednesday, Sept. 23. Brookline shut out Walpole 4-0 and drew St. John's Prep 2-2 during the week. The rankings described St. John's Prep as "one of the state's elite programs." The Eagles went 15-2-3 last season and reached the Division I state final.

Brookline blanked Walpole on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Brookline-Skyline Park, according to MaxPreps. It was the first shutout Walpole suffered this season. Two days later, the Warriors traveled to St. John's Preparatory School and came away with a 2-2 draw on Saturday, Sept. 19.

The results pushed Brookline's overall record to 5-1-2 with 18 goals scored and eight allowed, per MaxPreps. The Warriors' lone loss came Sept. 4 at Lexington, 2-0.

The climb has been swift. Brookline entered the season after a surprising 2025 campaign in which the Warriors earned the No. 21 seed in the MIAA Division 1 tournament and reached the quarterfinals. They finished the regular season 6-5-7 before closing the year on a 7-2-4 run. Defending state champion Natick has slipped to No. 4 at 1-3-1.

Brookline first claimed the top ranking in MassLive's Sept. 16 poll at 2-0-1. MassLive sportswriter Kyle Grabowski wrote at the time that the Warriors "outscored opponents 6-2 in three games." A week later, the gap between Brookline and the field has only widened.

Framingham (2-1-3) holds the No. 2 spot behind the Warriors. The rest of the top five: Needham (1-1-2), Natick (1-3-1) and Wellesley (0-1-2).

Brookline returns to BSC league play Thursday, Sept. 24, at Framingham, then visits Newton North on Saturday, Sept. 26. Both opponents sit in the top six of the rankings.
