Residents in seven Brookline neighborhoods may notice discolored water or low pressure overnight starting Monday, Oct. 5.

The town's Water and Sewer Division will flush water mains from Oct. 5 through Friday, Oct. 30, in the Summit Hill, Fisher Hill, Addington Hill, Reservoir Road, Eliot Street, Goddard Avenue and Independence Drive areas, according to a public notice posted by the town.

Crews will open selected fire hydrants in each neighborhood between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. to push water through the system. The division said the flushing is routine maintenance aimed at improving water quality.

The town said any discoloration will be temporary and not harmful. The notice does not specify which nights each neighborhood will be flushed.

The town ran a similar program from Oct. 9 through Nov. 3, 2023.
