A judge ordered a 24-year-old man held without bail after he allegedly stabbed a rider in the neck at the Copley Green Line station on the evening of Nov. 2.
Boston Municipal Court Judge James Coffey ordered Cristian Mayen held at the Suffolk County jail pending a dangerousness hearing on Thursday, Nov. 5, according to court records first cited by Universal Hub.
Mayen faces charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injury, armed robbery, mayhem and disorderly conduct, court records show. The charges are allegations. He has not been convicted.
How the attack unfolded
The incident began shortly before 8:30 p.m. outside the entrance to the Copley station, according to court records.
A preliminary investigation found that Mayen and the victim had some interaction on the street outside the station, MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said, as reported by the Boston Globe. Mayen then allegedly followed the man into the station and attacked him on the outbound platform.
The victim, a 59-year-old man, was stabbed in the neck, NBC Boston reported. Transit Police said he was taken to a local hospital conscious and alert. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Arrest and charges
Transit Police arrested Mayen not long after the attack, according to Sullivan. The Boston Police Department also responded to the scene.
The investigation is ongoing, according to Transit Police.
