Brookline High boys soccer ranked sixth in MassLive’s latest Bay State Conference rankings after a 3-3 draw with Needham and a 2-1 loss to Framingham.

The Warriors tied Needham on Thursday, Oct. 15, before falling to Framingham on Tuesday, Oct. 20. The defeat was Brookline’s second in three games, according to MassLive’s Oct. 21 rankings, which listed the team at 4-4-5.

Brookline subsequently lost 3-1 to Natick on Thursday, Oct. 22, according to MaxPreps. The site displays a 6-7-5 overall record, but its schedule lists the Oct. 13 loss to Newton North twice, leaving that total in question.

MassLive placed Framingham fourth and Needham fifth in its conference rankings. The Flyers rebounded against Brookline after losses to Newton South and Natick. Needham followed its draws against Brookline and Newton South with a 2-1 victory over Walpole on Oct. 20.

Natick topped the list, followed by Braintree and Wellesley. The rankings are MassLive’s assessment of conference teams, separate from the MIAA power ratings used for tournament seeding.

For Brookline coach Kyle Beaulieu-Jones, maintaining concentration throughout a match remains a priority.

“We want to put 80 minutes together and make sure that we are focused for 80 minutes,” Beaulieu-Jones told The Cypressafter the Warriors’ 1-0 loss to Newton North on Oct. 13.

Newton North scored within the opening three minutes of that game at Skyline Park. Senior captains Jeffrey Dong and Adan Spivak helped Brookline withstand further pressure, while junior goalkeeper Paul Costinot made several saves. The Warriors generated more possession and attacking opportunities after halftime but could not equalize, the student newspaper reported.

Brookline gets another opportunity against Newton North on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at 4:30 p.m. on the road. MaxPreps then lists a visit to Wellesley on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 6 p.m.
