The Brookline Farmers' Market enters its final stretch of 2026, with eight Thursdays left before the season closes on Nov. 19.

The market runs from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. each Thursday at the Centre Street West Parking Lot in Coolidge Corner, behind the Coolidge Corner Theatre. The season opened June 4, according to the market's website. The lot is reachable by the Green Line's C branch at the Coolidge Corner stop or the 66 bus at Harvard Street and Beacon Street, both less than a five-minute walk.

After 48 years, the market has become a gathering point where vendors and shoppers know each other by name. Board president Abe Faber told The Cypress, first reported by Annika Banerjee, that the market's proudest chapter came during the pandemic, when organizers kept the doors open instead of shutting down.

"All the work we did those two years, to be able to open and have people come to [the] market and enjoy buying fresh food at a time that people were scared to even eat," Faber said. "That made us feel pretty good."

Market manager Isabel Levy said vendors who have returned for five, 10 and 15 years have developed strong ties with the people they serve. The market draws weekly regulars, families and tourists to its mix of small organic farms, artisanal producers and bakery stalls.

Kate Stillman, owner of Stillman's Quality Meats, drives more than 80 miles from Western Massachusetts each Thursday. She described Brookline's crowd as a cross section of ethnic communities, families and older residents.

The market also anchors the Brookline Bounty program, a food-access initiative run by the Brookline Department of Public Health. In the program's most recent reported year, 2024, it provided coupons to 732 households. Those families redeemed $67,376 in coupons from 23 participating vendors between June and November, according to Brookline.com.

The final market day of 2026 is Thursday, Nov. 19.

Upcoming in Brookline: Brookline Day returns to Coolidge Corner on Sunday, Sept. 27. The town is also planning a centenarian celebration and aging forum in October.
