Brookline Golf Course is back in action — with a major fix for one of its biggest problems.
The town’s 18-hole municipal course at 1281 W. Roxbury Parkway reopened all holes on July 4 after a nine-month drainage overhaul, the largest improvement to the course’s drainage system since it opened in 1933.
The project targeted years of flooding and soggy conditions that disrupted play at the Putterham neighborhood course.
The renovation included:
- Redesigning and dredging existing creeks to improve water flow
- Bringing 1,500 feet of underground culverts back to the surface
- Installing 1,000 feet of new drainage pipe
- Creating new wildlife habitat areas across the property
The drainage work is the first phase of a larger master renovation plan for the Robert T. Lynch Municipal Golf Course.
General Manager Justin Lawson led the effort to develop a long-term plan for the course, which officials say focuses on preserving the public facility while making it more accessible to the community.
