Brookline Police are asking residents to help identify a man captured on surveillance footage in connection with a larceny from a motor vehicle in the Brookline Village area on Aug. 6.

The department released images of the suspect on its official Facebook page on Monday, Aug. 17, describing him as a man wearing a green T-shirt, a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, black boots and a black backpack. Police have not released the exact address of the incident.

The man is not considered wanted at this time. Anyone who recognizes him is asked to contact detectives at 617-730-2244.

The request is one of two public identification appeals Brookline Police published the same day. In a separate investigation, detectives are also seeking an Asian man they believe was involved in a shoplifting incident at a Harvard Street business at approximately 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 3. That suspect is described as between 30 and 40 years old with a tattoo on his right forearm, wearing gray pants, a blue T-shirt, black and white shoes and black eyeglasses, and carrying a white tote bag. Neither suspect is considered wanted.

The two appeals are the latest in a string of public-ID requests Brookline Police detectives have issued since early July, including cases tied to a July 7 larceny at a Coolidge Corner business, a July 17 larceny and possible credit card misuse at Whole Foods and Sephora, and a July 31 larceny from a work truck on Harvard Street.
