General admission tickets for the Coolidge Corner Theatre's Oct. 11 screening of Fjord and ceremony honoring director Cristian Mungiu have sold out, prompting the Brookline nonprofit to add a 7:30 p.m. encore showing the same evening.

The theatre announced on X on Wednesday, Sept. 16, that the encore screening will include a personal introduction from Mungiu. Tickets are available at coolidge.org.

The Sunday, Oct. 11 event is the second annual Coolidge Impact Award ceremony. The award, created in 2025, recognizes a filmmaker whose work inspires social change. Iranian director Jafar Panahi received the inaugural honor in November 2025, and that event also drew enough demand to warrant an added encore screening.

Mungiu, a Romanian writer-director, won the Palme d'Or at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival for Fjord, a drama about a devout Romanian-Norwegian couple who relocate to a Norwegian village and come into conflict with child protective services. The film stars Renate Reinsve and Sebastian Stan. Mungiu became the 10th filmmaker to win the Palme d'Or twice, having first won the prize 19 years ago for 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, according to Screen Daily.

Fjord is Romania's official entry for the 99th Academy Awards, and Neon holds U.S. distribution rights, The Wrap reported.

"I'm always taking a lot of time in between films to think about what else is important to speak about, to find a story that speaks about the state of the world in that given moment," Mungiu said at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 11, while promoting Fjord.

The Coolidge Corner Theatre, led by Executive Director Beth Gilligan, has operated as a cinema at 290 Harvard St. since 1933, and as a nonprofit cinema since 1989. The original Oct. 11 ceremony includes a screening of Fjord followed by a Q&A with Mungiu and the award presentation.
