Brookline High School's girls soccer team enters the 2026 season ranked No. 8 in the Bay State Conference, according to MassLive's first conference power rankings published Thursday, Sept. 10.

The Warriors went 6-8-5 last fall and earned the No. 13 seed in the MIAA Division I state tournament. Their season ended in a first-round shootout loss.

The 2026 campaign opened Wednesday, Sept. 9, with a tough draw. Brookline fell 5-0 to top-ranked Needham in a Carey Division matchup, per a MassLive roundup. The Rockets, who went 17-3-1 last season and return Eastern Mass. All-Stars Izzy Marino and Syd Kalaw, sit atop the conference rankings.

The No. 8 slot still puts Brookline inside a conference that has owned the Division I postseason. MassLive's Kyle Grabowski noted that BSC teams have won the past three D-I state titles. Nine of the league's 10 teams qualified for the state tournament last season.

Defending champion Natick ranks No. 2 after beating Franklin 4-2 in the 2025 state final, according to the Boston Globe. Wellesley, the 2024 champion, rounds out the top three.

The conference's depth is clear across the board. Braintree (No. 4) reached the D-I quarterfinals last fall. Newton North (No. 6) pushed No. 2 seed Bishop Feehan to a penalty shootout in the Round of 16. Even No. 9 Weymouth earned a tournament berth despite a 2-9-7 record, carried by its strength of schedule.

One former Warrior is making noise at the college level. Dartmouth sophomore Anna Leschly, a Brookline graduate, earned a spot on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List in September 2026, according to the Boston Globe. Leschly won Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors last season after starting 17 games and helping the Big Green capture their first Ivy League championship.
