A man allegedly pulled a gun on another driver on Goddard Avenue in Brookline on Friday, Sept. 11.

The confrontation began around 6:50 p.m. near Hellenic College, at 50 Goddard Ave. close to the Brookline-Boston border, Universal Hub reported. After the alleged gun threat, the man drove along Perkins Street beside Jamaica Pond and continued onto the Jamaicaway.

Officers from the Brookline Police Department, Boston Police Department and MBTA Transit Police converged on the Jamaicaway and stopped him.

Brookline Police have since confirmed the man, 61, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, according to Brookline.News reporting relayed by Universal Hub. He had a valid license to carry and told police he did not point the gun at the other driver, saying he retrieved it only to protect his wife and grandchildren after the other driver began screaming at him following a brake-checking incident. The other driver, however, said the man did point the gun at him. It remains unclear whether officers recovered the firearm from the vehicle, according to Hoodline.

No arraignment, court date or follow-up press conference had been publicly reported as of Sunday, Sept. 14.

Goddard Avenue and Perkins Street sit on the Brookline side of Jamaica Pond, which straddles the Brookline-Boston line.
