The Charles River Regional Chamber is bringing a young professionals networking event to bartaco Brookline on Tuesday, July 28, offering a free after-hours gathering for workers looking to make connections over tacos and drinks on Beacon Street.

The event runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at 1634 Beacon St., between Coolidge Corner and Cleveland Circle. It's open to both chamber members and non-members, according to the chamber's event listing.

The program is part of the chamber's effort to build Brookline-specific programming after absorbing the former Brookline Chamber of Commerce earlier this year. The Brookline Chamber's board voted in March to cease standalone operations and transition more than 150 member businesses to the regional organization, effective April 1.

Greg Reibman, the Charles River Regional Chamber's president and CEO, announced the merger in a March newsletter. He wrote that the Brookline Chamber's leadership had reached out in December 2025 to explore combining the two organizations.

"I've long felt there was a natural synergy between Brookline and the Charles River Chamber communities," Reibman wrote in March. "We share a border, the Route 9 corridor and Chestnut Hill, the Green Line and much of the Boston Marathon route."

Chris Mutty, the Brookline Chamber's former executive director, joined the regional chamber as director of Brookline member engagement to manage the transition. The combined organization now represents more than 1,200 businesses and nonprofits across Brookline, Newton, Needham, Watertown, and Wellesley, according to the chamber's website.

The chamber held its first major Brookline gathering under the new structure on June 24, when nearly 200 business and community leaders attended the annual Brookline Night celebration at the Hilton Garden Inn in Brookline Village. The Brookline Senior Center was named the chamber's 2026 Nonprofit of the Year at that event.

Town Administrator Chas Carey acknowledged the chamber's growing local role in the town's July newsletter, writing that it "was great to participate in their local award ceremony."

The July 28 bartaco event carries no formal agenda. The chamber describes it as a casual evening with "no pressure."
