Brookline High’s girls soccer team ended a three-game scoring drought with a 3-0 win over Weymouth on Thursday, Oct. 8, then moved up one spot to No. 4 in MassLive’s Bay State Conference power rankings.

Haley Ament scored twice and added an assist, while Lyla Thomas contributed a goal, according to MassLive’s Oct. 14 report.

The victory followed three consecutive scoreless outings: a 2-0 loss at Newton North on Sept. 29, a 0-0 draw against Natick on Oct. 1 and a 3-0 loss at Wellesley on Oct. 6, according to MaxPreps. Brookline stood fifth in MassLive’s conference rankings during that stretch.

Wellesley remains No. 1 in the publication’s latest list, followed by Needham and Braintree. Those rankings are separate from the MIAA’s statewide power rankings, which help determine tournament qualification and seeding.

Brookline is No. 15 in the Oct. 13 MIAA Division 1 rankings. Wellesley ranks third statewide, and Needham is fourth.

The sources report different records for the Warriors. The MIAA lists Brookline at 5-3-1 based on scores entered by schools through 4 a.m. Oct. 13. MaxPreps lists a 6-3-1 overall record, while MassLive’s conference ranking article lists 4-3-2 without identifying it as a conference-only mark.

Brookline next hosts Needham on Thursday, Oct. 15, at 4 p.m. The Rockets beat the Warriors 5-0 in their first meeting on Sept. 9, according to MaxPreps.

The Warriors then travel to Belmont on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 5 p.m., followed by a visit to Framingham on Tuesday, Oct. 20, at 4:30 p.m.
